William Tangohau left school and went straight into building - labouring for a mate's dad who ran a construction company in Auckland. That was over 20 years ago. He worked across a wide range of projects over the years, building up the kind of experience that only comes from doing the work, not just overseeing it.

In 2015, he started O'Neill Construction to run jobs on his own terms. Tighter team. More direct contact with clients. The ability to manage a project from start to finish and hand it back to someone who's genuinely happy with what's been built.

11 years later, most of our work still comes from past clients or someone they've referred us to. That's the best measure we know of whether we're doing things right.
